In this article we will discuss the Basic Course Templates that come with each course. Each newly created course comes with five units: General Information, Course Outline, Submission Point, Q&A, and Online Class. Each Basic Course Template comes with instructions for optimal use. Following these instructions is strongly recommended.

NB: Feel free to delete any items that are not relevant to your course, for instance if you don't use the onlince class.
General Information
Under General Information, you can find three items:
- Study guide: Here you can upload your study guide and any comments you have for your students regarding the guide. Some programs choose to create their entire study guide in this page instead of linking to it. Make sure you discuss how you will use this within your program or faculty. Should you wish to recreate this page, then you can find the Basic Course Template under the name: THUAS Study Guide Template. For more information on how to create new documents and use templates, please go to: How do I use HTML templates in my content?
- Grading information: Here you can give information on your grading method. You can find this document under the name: THUAS Grading Information Template.
- Contact details: Here you can provide the contact details of the teacher(s) and assistant(s) in the course. You can find this document under the name: THUAS Contact Details Template.
Under Course Outline you will find the actual structure of your course on a week-by-week basis. If you do not work on a weekly basis and instead work with themes, you can easily change the names of the modules by editing the module. Each module contains one lesson plan document.
You can find the Basic Course Template under the name: THUAS Lesson Template.
Submission Point
Under Submission Point, you can create assignments, as well as the instructions for the assignments. It is not necessary to place all assignments here, you could also place them within your course outline.
Under Q&A, you can link to a Discussion forum where your students can ask questions regarding the course.
Under Online Class, you can add instructions and links to online classes. You can do this in two ways.
- Microsoft Teams: It is recommended to simply add a link to the meeting, rather than a shortcut to MS Teams or any other option.
- Collaborate: Click on Add Existing and then on External Tool Activity. Select Collaborate Ultra and follow the instructions.

- Go to Import/Export/Copy Components under Course Admin.
- Click on Import Components and select the export file. For more information on how to Import and Export course components, go to: How can I fill my courses for the next academic year? This will have copied the entire default course into your course.
