This article explains how to associate a Rubric to an assignment or discussion topic.

You can associate rubrics to assignments and discussions topics in Brightspace. This enables you to assess with a rubric and transfer the score into the Grades.
Associate a Rubric to an Assignment
- Open the Edit Assignment screen of the Assignment you want to associate a rubric to.
- Go to the Evaluation & Feedback tab.
- Click on Add Rubric.
- In the pop-up screen, select the desired Rubric and click on Add Selected. You can also select Create new to make a new rubric directly associated with this assignment.
- Finally hit Save and Close.
Associate a Rubric to a Discussion Topic
- Open the Edit Topic screen of the Discussion Topic you want to associate a rubric to.
- Go to the tab Assessment.
- Click on Add Rubric.
- In the pop-up screen, select the desired Rubric and click on Add Selected.
- Finally hit Save and Close.
Associate a Rubric to a Quiz
When a "Written Response" question is chosen, you can add a rubric as shown below:
Disconnect a Rubric from a Discussion topic or Assignment
- Navigate to Course Tools in the navigation bar of your course.
- Click on Assignments or Discussions.
- Click on Edit Assignment or Edit Discussion.
- Click on the cross next to the Rubric.
- Save.
