In this manual, we will go through the required steps to add a grade scheme to an assignment. If you wish to add a personalized grading scheme it is important that you have created your grade scheme before following these instructions. You can also chose one of our institutional grading schemes. Adding a grade scheme to an assignment will facilitate easy grading.
For the demonstration, the following grade scheme will be used
Step 1: Go to your course homepage
1) Click on Course Tools
2) Click on Assignments
Step 2: Create a new assignment
1) Click on New Assignment or chose an existing assignment to edit
2) Click on "Ungraded" and fill in a value
3) Click on "In grade book"
Step 3: Linking to an existing grade scheme
1) Click on Edit or Link to Existing
2) Choose Change grade type & scheme. The grade type is either Numeric (grade users by assigning a value out of a specified number of points) or Selectbox (grade users by selecting a grade scheme level that best matches their achievement).
3) Under Grade Scheme, choose the grade scheme you want to attach to the assignment and click Ok.
4) Fill in the rest of your assignment details and save
After these steps you will find your grade item with grading scheme in the gradebook. When assessing your student's work you can now use your grading scheme to assign grades.
You can also assign grades within the Gradebook itself:
1) Click on the arrow next to your assignment (in this case, "Test")
2) Click on Enter Grades
3) To enter the corresponding grade, click on the box and select a grade from your grade scheme (these will appear)
4) Once you selected a grade, the Weighted Grade and Scheme will change accordingly.
